Django Bates wins BASCA Award
Django Bates has won a BASCA (British Composers Association) award for his composition, The Study of Touch.
Bates joins 8 other composers as first time winners of the awards including Mark Anthony-Turnage and Tom White.
Contemporary Jazz Composition is the only jazz category and has been previously won by John Surman, Christine Tobin and two LCoM graduates, Tommy Evans and James Hamilton.
