National Youth Jazz Collective Summer School 2014


Applications are now being accepted for this year's National Youth Jazz Collective summer school, which will be held from 10-17 August. Open to young musicians between 14 and 18, the week long course will feature tuition from 11 highly respected jazz musicians and educators -

Issie Barratt (NYJC Artistic Director), Nic France, Mark Lockheart, Liam Noble, Percy Pursglove, Jeremy Price, Nick Smart, Martin Speake, Mike Walker and NYJC's president Dave Holland.



The focus of the course is to develop your improvisatory and interactive skills, build confidence, provide professional guidance, performance experience and meet likeminded and talented musicians your own age within the context of small group jazz playing.

A feeder summer school will also take place, from 16-19 August, to offer additional tutoring and support to those who the audition panel feel show promise but are not yet ready for the main course.

An online application form is available to complete on the NYJC website and the deadline for submission is 5pm on February 28th.

Auditions for musicians in the North will take place at the following locations -

7th April - Sage Gateshead
15th April - Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal
16th April - Leeds College of Music
17th April - RNCM, Manchester
