Weekly Round-Up

Here at Jazz Yorkshire we want to celebrate all of the goings-on of the jazz scene in Yorkshire, but we also want to celebrate the jazz community at large, so here are some things to check out across the UK and beyond...

The ever-prolific Lance and the team at Bebop Spoken Here cover the news and reviews of jazz in the North East, including a review of the New Mastersounds album, Out on the Faultline and of Moss Freed's Moss Project: Short Stories.

Sebastian Scotney at LondonJazz has taken the leap into podcasts, starting with a chat with trumpeter Laura Jurd on, amongst other things, her recent Chaos Festival. Also check out the review of Diana Krall at the Royal Albert Hall, a gig which highlights once more how influential sound engineers can be on live music...

Peter Bacon's Jazz Breakfast has posted an interesting article on Wayne Shorter (pic below). It's always good to hear a musician's take on another musician, so have a look at JJ Wheeler's reviews of Vijay Iyer's Accelerando and Orrin Evan's Flip The Script.

Finally, it's great to hear that Smalls Jazz Club have managed to re-open after a Sandy-related power cut forced them to close.
