ROLLER TRIO NOMINATED FOR MERCURY PRIZE AND MOBO 2012

UPDATE: A few days after the BMP nomination the Roller Trio where delighted and shocked to discover that they have also been nominated as best jazz act for a MOBO award! The Roller Trio say "If you'd like to help us out, you can vote for us at www.mobo.com/user it only takes a minute and you can even vote through your Facebook account."

Congratulations to Leeds' based Roller Trio as their debut album has been nominated for The Barclaycard Mercury Prize 2012 Album of the Year. The Roller Trio are James Mainwaring tenor sax and electronics, Luke Wynter on guitar and Luke Reddin-Williams on drums, still in their early ‘20s they met whilst studying at Leeds College of Music.

Their music is described as a fresh, visceral stew of conventional and experimental sounds that features stonking riffs, thrashy noise, evocative songs and electronic soundscapes. A powerful new band in their own right – one with their own unique voice. In 2011 they were winners of the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award administered by the Musicians Benevolent Fund.
