Polar Bear To Play Northern Dates
Polar Bear, drummer Seb Rochoford's group that has been one of the driving forces of British jazz since it's incarnation in 2004, will be playing two northern dates this month. During their tour to support their new record In Each And Every One, the band will be playing Band On The Wall in Manchester on 20th March and The Wardrobe in Leeds on the 21st.
With a Mercury nomination under their belt and this album being their sixth release, Polar Bear are in strong shape and still featuring the original line-up of Mark Lockheart and Peter Wareham on saxes, Tom Herbert on bass and Leafcutter John on electronics alongside leader and drummer Rochord.
The new record sees the band embracing a more electronic sound and has received strong reviews:
“It not only brims with startling invention, but is likely to put them on the map as go-to soundtrackers of urban-life melancholy, alongside the likes of not-so anonymous beat trafficker Burial and Brian Eno-collaborator Jon Hopkins” - The Quietus
Support for these shows comes from Shiver, a new power-trio led by guitarist Chris Sharkey, featuring electric bassist Andy Champion and drummer Joost Hendricks.
