Louse Gibbs Singing Workshop, June 4th

Renowned vocalist and teacher Louise Gibbs will run a one-day vocal masterclass on June 4th for vocalists who want to feel more relaxed and free in their singing.

The session will run from 10am until 5pm and is limited to 10 participants which ensures that each vocalist will receive ample performance time and tuition. Louise is joined by Sam Leak (piano), Sam Gardner (drums) and Mark Lewandowksi (double bass).

The masterclass will allow singers to -

• explore your “jazz voice”

• learn new repertoire

• develop your improvising skills

• learn how to direct a band and prepare for a jam session

• perform with greater confidence

• experience singing with a supportive trio of top young UK musicians

Louise is a distinguished educator and has taught at a number top UK universities and conservatoires including Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Goldsmiths, RNCM and LCoM as well as many workshops worldwide.

The cost of the session is £75 (£60 for full time students) and includes lunch & refreshments.

Sing Jazz in Leeds, Play Jazz in the Dales...

In May, there are two special opportunities to learn about jazz under the expert tuition of Matt Roberts and Louise Gibbs.

Jazz at Heart's weekend jazz school takes place in Dalesbridge and runs from May 8th - 10th. Lesley says -

 If you are an adult learner of jazz who you think would benefit from a crazy weekend of jazz tuition from the amazing trio of Matt Roberts, Sam Watts and Sam Gardner, please put them in touch with me. May 8th - 10th in the wonderful Yorkshire Dales. We currently don't have a drummer (who could learn so much from Sam Gardner)or any alto players, though all instrumentalists are welcome... Only £250 and a chance not to be missed. Vocalist Louise Gibbs is also running a workshop - this one is a day-long session in Leeds on May 16th. The session is aimed at singers. Louise says -

There are just 2 places left on the jazz singing and improvisation workshop with me on Saturday 16th May 11am until 5pm in Leeds. Preview: Marsden Jazz Festival

This year's Marsden Jazz Festival runs from October 10th to 12th in venues throughout Marsden. Their diverse programme features groups from across the UK, spanning all types of jazz.

Rising star vibes player Lewis Wright will perform with Ben Crosland's Threeway on Friday, and the award-winning Troyka appear on Saturday afternoon. This year's Young Musician of the Year, Alex Bone, will perform with Jam Experiment at the Marsden Royal British Legion. Vocalist Louise Gibbs brings her Seven Deadly Sings project on Saturday evening, after receiving 4 stars from Jazzwise for her recent album release. The festival will close with a performance by Doncaster Jazz Alumni Orchestra featuring Dennis Rollins.

Louise Gibbs: CheerSing 2014

Singer Louise Gibbs' community music project CheerSing has been chosen for the Yorkshire Festival 2014. The 100-day arts and culture festival leads the run up to the Tour de France, 4-6 July 2014 and is supported by Arts Council, Welcome to Yorkshire and Yorkshire Water.

Louise's ambitious project aims to bring communities together to cheer on the cyclists with specially devised chants and cheers which represent their own part of Yorkshire. She will run a series of workshops along the route.
