The LS6 Jam Session Returns

Northern Jazz News is pleased to announce that after a hiatus of several months, the popular weekly jam night at LS6 Cafe (The Clock Cafe) will be returning on Wednesday 6th August. The night is run by saxophonist and journalist Ben Powling, and the first house band will be the fantastic Matthew Aplin Trio, featuring Matthew Aplin on piano, Tom Riviere on double bass and Steve Hanley on drums.
The house band will begin at 9pm, and the jam will run from 10pm until midnight.

Gig Review: Polar Bear and Shiver at The Wardrobe, Leeds.

On Friday 21^st March, Polar Bear played The Wardrobe in Leeds as part of a tour to promote their new album In Each And Every One. The long wait for this new release meant that there was anticipation of a change in the band’s direction and this was delivered without losing the recognisable sound that has won the band so many fans over the last ten years.

Garforth Arts Festival 2013

Garforth Arts Festival has announced their 2013 programme and it's full of big names from world music, folk and more.
Amongst many other events, guitarist Eduardo Niebla will perform as part of the festival on Sunday 30th. Their headline event, the Playground Party will take place on Saturday 6th July and feature LAU, Bellowhead, Kate Rusby, Ruby Turner and Leeds-based group Hope and Social. Tickets for this event are on-sale now - £22 full price, £18 conc and £54 for a family ticket.

Glasgow Jazz Fest Line-Up Announced

Glasgow Jazz Festival has announced the full programme for the 27th annual festival. International artists include Burt Bacharach, pianist Leo Blanco and Snarky Puppy. The festival also showcases the best of homegrown talent including Konrad Wiszniewski and Euan Stevenson's New Focus and Scottish Young Jazz Musician of the Year Pete Johnstone.
