A Big Band Birthday celebration is taking place in Doncaster this Sunday to mark 40 years of Doncaster Youth Jazz Association under the direction of John Ellis MBE.
Two concerts will take place in a brand new 600-seater performance venue, Cast in Doncaster. The matinee takes place at 2pm and will feature Doncaster Youth Stageband and Doncaster Youth Swing Orchestra. The second concert takes place at 7pm and features Doncaster Youth Jazz Orchestra and Doncaster Jazz Orchestra, the Alumni band (pictured above).
DYJA and John Ellis have been instrumental in providing jazz education and performance opportunities in Doncaster for 40 years. The ensembles have produced many well-established musicians in the UK today including Dennis Rollins and Reuben Fowler. Wish them a Happy Birthday on Sunday at Cast!
