The 2013 Peter Whittingham Award has been launched by Musicians Benevolent Fund (Help Musicians UK) and they welcome submissions until November 12th at 5pm.
The £4,000 award is given to emerging jazz musicians and groups who show talent and innovation. Last year, Yorkshire-born trumpet player and composer Reuben Fowler was the recipient and used the money to fund his critically acclaimed debut album. Previous recipients include Roller Trio, Soweto Kinch and Gwilym Simcock.
Applications are accepted until November 12th, and auditions will take place on 3rd December at Premises Studios in East London.
