November sees two heavyweight UK pianists bring their groups to Sela Bar in Leeds.

Tom Gibbs Quartet 

Pianist Tom Gibbs' Fear of Flying brings together a heavyweight band with saxophonist Will Vinson flying in from NYC ('spectacular, adroit and sophisticated' The Guardian), Glasgow bassist Euan Burton ('an unbelievable creative force in Scottish Music' BBC Scotland) and Londoner James Maddren (drummer with Gwilym Simcock, Norma Winstone, Kit Downes). They are here to launch the pianist's debut release on Whirlwind Recordings. The group plays Gibbs' highly melodic, uniquely styled compositions that helped lead the pianist's hero John Taylor to call him 'Inspiring'.

Troyka are Chris Montague (guitars and loops), Joshua Blackmore (drums) and Kit Downes (organ), three young musicians based in London whose intense live shows have seen them hotly tipped to follow in the foot steps of Polar Bear and Portico Quartet and become the next young band to explode from the capital’s fertile jazz scene. 

Tickets for both gigs are £10/8 each, but Sela is offering a deal for LCoM students - £15 to see both gigs.
